The Divergent Series: ALLEGIANT Review

I've been waiting to write this post for a while! On Friday, I saw the newest installment of the Divergent series, Allegiant, and I couldn't wait to write up a review. But, as a lot of people have not yet watched or read it, I won't go into detail with the plot, just my overall opinion and so on.

As a huge Divergent fan, I was absolutely ecstatic about seeing Allegiant, but at the same time I was slightly worried that it wouldn't live up to my expectations, as unfortunately, Insurgent was a complete disappointment in my opinion, at least compared to the book. However, I told myself that this time it'll be different and that hopefully Allegiant would be a game changer because I loved the book. And boy, was I right, it was incredible! The acting from each an every character was impeccable and truly amazing, well done to them all. Each fight scene, shoot-outs and chases were done brilliantly which is something that I always pay attention to because action is my favourite, however I do feel like they focused too much on that aspect of the movie rather than character development and what the actual sight of the story is. Nevertheless, I was not disappointed in any way.

There was one thing, however, that I picked up on within just a few minutes of the movie... In most parts the green screen was horrendous. Of course the scenery is fake, we all know how a green screen works, but it was too fake - viewers shouldn't want to be able to pick up on that! Although, it didn't bother me too much after a while because of the acting and the fact it was a great movie overall brought my attention away from that negative factor.

Critics have not been kind to the fanchise this year, I have read some reviews and a lot aren't too pleased, although most of the time they aren't actual fans of the franchise - books or movies, so if you are having doubts about whether this movie is good, or whether you should actually see it - just do it, believe me you will not regret it I can assure you. I think you have to remind yourself that when it comes to movies and books, they are going to be different whether you want them to be or not. That's how it works, and as much as I wouldn't mind a 5 hour movie, showing everything solely in the book, I still think the movie was great and I walked out of the movie theater happy with the product.

I'm super excited for the second part Ascendant which will be released next year as I know it will be a strong and incredible finale for the series.

My current rankings, still. Divergent > Allegiant > Insurgent.
